“We da bomb!”
19 May
Well, we are actually not “late” this week, but had our first content-related difficulty!
We made a recording dealing with the “mad cow disease” and American beef issue, but the conversation got too “excited” and verrrrrry long. The problem is that it became nearly impossible to edit, since we were all talking over one another, so…we have to do it over. Hehe.
Since our schedules only allow us to meet once a week, we couldn’t re-record and have our transcriber prepare everything on time. So we’re a bit behind with this episode. But prepare yourselves! The conversation on 광우병 IS coming, as well as other good things. We just made a decision between keeping to the schedule, or keeping our quality up. We decided to go with quality.
So we’d rather have a delayed episode than a bad one. Please understand!

폭탄영어 would be nothing without its transcripts.
Which means we would be nothing without our faithful and accurate transcriber — Eun-gyuhl! So we decided to give her a little introduction here, and talk a little bit about the process of making the transcript.
We record the show each week on a Thursday, the only day the hosts can generally all meet together. I then try to edit the podcast by Friday, but usually end up finishing it on Saturday (or even Sunday - sorry, Eun-Gyuhl!)
Then, I upload the finished MP3 file to a special folder, which Eun-gyuhl then uses to make her transcript. Her accuracy is amazing! I generally only have to correct the spelling of an occasional strange word, or some unfamiliar name — her accuracy is the highest I’ve seen!
Where did I find this gem? Well, Eun-gyuhl is my ex-student from when I taught US History at her high school, the Hanguk Academy of Foreign Studies (한국외국어대학교부속외국어고등학교). She is one of the sharpest and most hardworking students I have ever met. She just graduated and is now waiting for her college acceptance (입학) letters, which in the American system, come in May. She is hoping to go to the University of Pennsylvania or Dartmouth – let’s wish her luck!
Eun-gyuhl only requests that you “실수 이쁘게 봐주세요.” ㅋㅋㅋ Of course!
Say hi to Eun-gyuhl on her Cyworld page: www.cyworld.com/rosiebae

You should register with our site. Really!
Why? Because if you register, you’re in our system. When we release a new episode, or have a big announcement, then you will automatically receive an email. We only usually only send out one episode announcement a week. And remember – it’s us! Not some stranger. This isn’t spam, so don’t worry.
Also, if you’re registered, it’s easier to comment. Once you’re logged in, you don’t have to type your name and email address for each comment. How convenient, right?
So register, wait for the email, then follow the link in it. The first time you login, you must use the password in the email, but then you can change it to whatever you want.
And that’s it! You’re now a member of Bomb English!
Now, YOU’RE da bomb!

폭탄영어 offers the best way to practice English conversation and “feel” real English. But you may wonder – why? How should I use this show and its materials? Here’s what we suggest:

If you are going to spend a lot of time with someone, it’s a good idea to get to know them, right? So, I thought I should start off by introducing myself, what I do, and what some of my interests are. I hope this will make you feel more comfortable listening to our show, and also that it will help build trust in our little community. So, here’s my curriculum vitae and self-introduction!

우리 독자들한테 물어보고 싶었는데: 설명할 때 한국말로 할까요? 영어로할까요? 한국말로 하면은 도움이 되는 건가요? 차이 많이 나요?당신의 의견을 코멘트로 좀써주세요!
We wanted to ask our readers: do you prefer us some Korean when explaining some expressions, or only English? How helpful is using Korean to explain things? Please write your opinion as a comment! ![]()
