“We da bomb!”
4 Feb
If you have a study group of 5 or more people, then we will meet you and give you some suggestions as to how to use 폭탄영어 in your studies! We appreciate our listeners and want to help anyone who is using our materials. So, we can help you use 폭탄영어 in your English studying, while we help to promote our site.
However, please note: This is a FREE visit – we do NOT want any regular 과외, nor is this visit for money. We just want to help make sure you are using our materials effectively – if you want to “pay” us, please just recommend our site to as many friends, family, and colleagues as you can. Oh, and maybe you can buy us dinner. Fair?
How, when, and where will we meet? Our preferences are:
– in the evening around 7 PM (dinnertime, hint, hint!)
– in a restaurant or other place to eat (hint, hint!)
– above the river (in 강북, and preferably 홍대, 신촌, or 종로/명동 area)
If all that sounds good, contact either Michael or Jennifer and arrange a 폭탄영어 meeting!

This is a great idea
I’m sure a lot of people will be writing in !! (Not too many, I hope. Haha)
Oh, I hope many study groups will write in! We want to spread the word, meet some listeners, and really try to get our community off the ground. We think our most important “홍보” will be our satisfied listeners.
And we might get some free dinners…hehe….
That’s Michael for you . . .always thinking with his stomach!
I want to introduce your podcast/website in my blog soon, so that more people can know about you and your podcast! I hope you don’t mind.
That would be awesome! Of COURSE it’s OK!
i just wonder why you guys are doing this, i mean this podcast. do you do this for fun or try some sort of new business model? either way it’s really great idea. i’m not suspicious of you, and again i’m just curious. don’t be offended.

While doing it for fun, we are also hoping to get many listeners and perhaps get a sponsor. Then we don’t have to do it for free, and we don’t have to charge any subscribers directly.
In the big picture, we want a voice for foreigners in this society. Traditional media won’t listen to us, it talks about us in prejudiced ways while we can’t offer any reply. So we made our own media.
Also, it’s kind of an experiment as well. We want to show that English can be taught effectively and without condescending to the students, and that language should be a tool of COMMUNICATION, not mere STUDY. So, when speaking English, you should actually SAY SOMETHING INTERESTING.
We think the timing is also right for something like this, and Koreans are ready for something different. This is the age of UCC, of real “user-created content.” The days of everything being generic and controlled by the broadcast media and big companies are ending.
And we want to be among the first to prove that point.
So, in short, yes, going to visit study groups for free may seem a bit weird, but we do have something to gain from it: dedicated listeners. And we hope dedicated listeners will NATURALLY spread the word about us, without us even asking. That’s the kind of 홍보 even money can’t buy.
And if we can later get a sponsor and 1) get paid for our time, so we can 2) make our podcast even BETTER, then everyone wins!
Thanks for the question.
i really like such a super-quick answer. thanks for the honest reply. i just wanted to know you and your plan before i do some kind of 홍보. as you already mentioned if traditional media won’t listen to you why don’t you try new media. i know that’s why you launched this podcast as your own new media, but you still need 홍보. i work for a korean internet newspaper.(i will tell you the name later.) if you write interesting article about english or english education regularly just like your podcast, i can translate it into korean and put it in the paper. and also it will be the best 홍보. unfortunately this is not an official proposal but a private suggestion. i just want to help you and this podcast. think of it and let me know.
This seems like a great ideaaa!
I want to come…T-T
(Surely I could come yeh, just about half-a-day spent on airplane?)
Haha, well, maybe someday we’ll visit the British Isles^^
im sorry . i dont write english very well. so i will write korean word.
I recommended this to my Korean student/friend who has an English discussion group. Hope she will not forget to visit the site and, maybe then, contact you. I believe this would really be helpful for her and her groupmates. Thanks.
I had same question with Naeil but now I see what your big picture is. I enjoy communicating with others in English.
I will do “PR” in my Naver blog and I have already recommended my friends and it will keep continue.
hi michael.
