우리 introduction에 나오는 말이 “We da bomb!” 나오잖아요. 근데 무슨 뜻있을까요?

“We da bomb” “We the bomb”이란 말이고 완전히 표준어로 말하면 “We are the bomb”이란 말이예요. “Da bomb”최고라는 뜻이예요.

: That movie was the bomb! [SLANG FOR: "That movie was the best!]

근데 헥갈리게 만드는 “a bomb”이란 말은 너무 꽝이란 말이예요.

: The movie was a total bomb.

: The movie bombed in the theaters but did well on DVD.

: I totally bombed on my blind date last night.

So, when Jennifer says, “We da bomb,” it’s kind of a funny way of bragging about ourselves. “We’re the best!”

For us, “Bomb English” or “폭탄영어” has many possible meanings. It can mean “the best English” or it can mean we are trying to destroy what people think about English, or perhaps English education. We like the idea that we are exploding or destroying the old-fashioned way of learning English by using a new strategy:

Don’t just use English for the sake of using English. English should be a tool, not the goal itself. English should be a tool to communicate some message, something you really want to say, or let’s you hear what you really want to hear.

Too often, in English language education in Korea, English is taught similar to the way Latin is taught in the US – as system of grammar rules and words to remember. But how often do Koreans USE English for some reason, instead of just STUDY it to study it?

폭탄영어 offers the interesting content that will make you forget that you are “studying.” We want to give you the chance to use English to really communicate something, to connect with others, to convey real ideas.

We hope you agree, and that you continue to support us as we develop our community so that what we say is more true, that:

“We da bomb!”
